Puppet Emperor’s Palace

The Museum of Imperial Palace of Manchu State(伪满皇宫博物馆) was built in 1962, which is commonly referred to as the Puppet Emperor’s Palace. It covered an area of 12 hectares, located in Guangfu Road in the northeast road of Changchun. The Museum of Imperial Palace of Manchu State was the palace of last emperor, Puyi, who had lived in there since 1932 to 1945 and wrote his famous autobiography, “the First Half of My Life”.

The major building of the puppet palace is a two-storey house with yellow tiles covered on the top, which consists Qinmin Building, Jixi Building and Tongde Palace. Those 3 buildings were established with a combination of Chinese and Western patterns, which demonstrate distinctive building style in every design.

Old Eight Department

The Old Eight Department(旧八大部) was established in 1936, located near Xinmin Street in the center of Changchun. It consists of 8 institutions of Manchukuo, that is, Department of Security, Department of Legislation, Department of Economy, Department of Transportation, Department of Agriculture, Department of Culture and Education, Department of diplomacy and Department of Health.

Besides, each building of the 8 institutions are of distinctive designing, which mainly adapted western pattern, as there is a rich of grand buildings, and courtyards with flapping flowers down the arch. Poplars stand straightly along both sides of Xinmin Street, which add a sense of tranquility and serenity to the city, with the distinctive buildings hiding among the trees.

The construction of the Old Eight Department was finished in 1936, whereas the “New Imperial Palace” (referred to as the Geology Palace in modern times) belonged to Puyi was half way from completion,which began to take shape at the beginning of liberation. The palace covered an area of 31.2 square kilometers, the ground in front of which has been adapted into cultural plaza for relaxation. The green meadow, white pigeons and the grandeur sculpture of sunbird are appealing to a booming population each day. If you stand on the axis of the palace and turn to the south, you are welcomed by a 60-meter-wide street directed toward the Nanhu Park, with poplars and cloves sending fresh, just like a green gallery.

The legislative institution of Manchukuo (referred to as the 461 Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army) covered an area over 100,000 square meters. The central building was constructed with tower roof, with purplish red glazed tiles inlayed. The external wall was covered with brown bricks. Exquisite ideas of its designer can be found everywhere, and the overall appearance of the building is a sort of fillet curve. It was once the supreme court of Manchukuo.

World Sculpture Park

The World Sculpture Park(世界雕塑公园) is located in the southern end of Renmin Street in Changchun. As a theme park, it centers the essence of modern art and a wide range of sculpture genre. Under the exquisite design of top designers all over the world, the park is carefully decorated under the crave idea of a combination of traditional and modern elements.

The park contains 451 masterpieces of 401 brilliant sculptors from 216 countries and regions, which is rich in exotic styles from distinct regions. Long lasting masterpieces of the great French sculpture Auguste Rodin, including “Thinker”, “Balzac”, “Walking Man”, are demonstrated densely in Rodin Square at the entrance of the park re-conducted from the original mould preserved in Rodin Museum, France. The park has topped the list of world sculpture parks in terms of internationality and artistry.

At the same time, Changchun Sculpture Art Gallery, with a construction area of 12,500 square meters, has recently developed into the largest Sculpture art gallery in China. Indeed, the unique design of its appearance has well-expressed its own value as an exquisite sculpture. Influential art works are displayed in special exhibition rooms, and in other parts of the gallery, there is no lack of exhibition rooms, classrooms, international meeting rooms, and creative studio. Large populations of fans are appealed to there to enjoy the advanced instruments and receive the charm of art.

Located in the northeastern part of the park, the Museum of Songshan-Hanrong African Art Collection provides you an access toward African arts. Over 12,000 pieces of exquisite African sculpture and paintings from southeastern countries in Africa, including Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, are preserved here, which contribute to the center of Makonde Woodcarving in China.

Jilin Provincial Museum

The Jilin Province Museum(吉林省博物馆) was established in Sep.2003, and it is now under the leadership of Jilin Province Department of Culture. In Sep. 2003, the former Jilin Province Museum and the Modern History Museum merged into the present Jilin Province Museum which is located at No. 3188, Renmin Street, Changchun city.

There are up to one hundred thousand collections in the museum, dated from ancient times to the modern times. The Chinese dynastical calligraphy and paintings, collections of Goguryeo, Bohai, Manchu, modern times occupy an important position in domestic museums. In May 2007, former premises of Jilin Province Museum were constructed, as new buildings located in Jingyue Economy Development Zone with an area of 32,000 square meters which emerged as Changchun Science Technology and Cultural Centre. In the near future, Jilin Province Museum will join in the list of advanced domestic museums with a new image.

As the centre of Jilin’s cultural relic collection, protection, exhibition and scientific research, the Museum will better its functions, and constantly enrich and deepen people’s understanding and awareness of history and culture. Most importantly, it will make great contribution to the development and construction of spirituality.

Lake Jingyue

Lake Jingyue (净月潭) is located approximately 12 kilometers southeast from the central area of Changchun, which earned its fame for the crescent shape of its dam. The Jingyue Lake is also famous for its picturesque and natural scenery of mountains and lakes. Besides, over 100 square kilometers of forests within the park has contributed to the “largest artificial forest area”.

The bathing place in Jingyue Lake region is referred to as the largest bathing place domestically. North Putuo Temple, a prestigious temple in northeast China, is brimmed with the smell of incense during the celebration of Buddhist Festival; whereas the bathing place also reveals exotic European, which serves as the world’s 2nd park under the theme of “the hometown of Santa Claus”.

Jingyue Ski Resort(净月潭滑雪场) is endowed with great geographic advantages and an assortment of travel resources, circled by forests and lakes, and covered an area of 18 square kilometers. Cable ways were set high above, and the ski resort includes a 1314-meter-long tube slideway claimed to be the longest in the world. In addition, it is exactly a “ski resort within the city”, with diverse amusement equipments available to cope with different needs. It is particularly suitable for a winter tour to get the real sense of grand northern scenery.

Changchun Film City

The Changchun Film City(长春电影城), which received advanced technology of film and art, reveals distinctive feature of multi-ethnic buildings both at home and abroad. Established in 1985, Changchun Film City was located in Lvyuan District, Changchun, adjacent to Changchun Film Studio, the largest integrated film studio in China.

The film city is mainly divided in to 6 districts, including district of exhibition of new technology, district of antique buildings, district of amusement and so forth. “Movie Land”, “Movie Palace ”, or “Circular Screen Movie” will enable a comprehensive experience of the art of movie. There are also traditional Chinese gate tower and classical European style buildings offering a sense of exotic feeling. In addition, amusement equipments like “the Wonder of Animals” or “the Mysterious Sea World” are reminding you of the nature of life.

The core program of Changchun Film City, namely, “the Tremendous Movie Land”, covers an area of 20,000 square meters. Settled on the green meadow, the appearance of the Movie Land is close to a flipping roll of film, reflecting a combination of both mildness and harmony. Nevertheless, the charm of the Movie Land lies in “the six palace and one hotel”, that is, “the palace of adventure”, “palace of historic sources”, “studio of movie”, “stadium of performance”, “stadium of movie stunts”, “stadium of space” and “Yuqilin Hotel”. Beside scenery visiting and entertainment, you will witness the progress of movie conducting and participate into a certain context to obtain practical knowledge of the movie.

Banruo Temple

The name of Banruo Temple(般若寺),in which “ban ruo” should be pronounced as “bo re” was of Buddhist lexical usage, referred to as “wisdom”. It is a sort of supreme wisdom with an insight comprehension of the entire creature within the world.

Banruo Temple situates in the northeastern area of the majestic Renmin Square. The temple was initially established in 1922, when Master Tanxu given the course of the Heart Sutra in Changchun in 1923. In 1934, the temple was entitled as “Huguo Banruo Temple”, which taken up 7,200 square meters as the largest Buddhist Temple in Changchun. Doors of the temple consist of 3 arch doors arranged in juxtaposition with upwarping angle on each door. It is undeniable that they are of well-positioned and exquisite designing. Namo Amitabha was carved on the red wall, and the towering palaces inside are of spectacular scenery with the background of trees.

Entering into the temple, you will be welcomed by the drum tower and the bell tower on the left and right side respectively. In the front, it is referred to as the Palace of Emperor, in the center of which there is a worship of Maitreya Buddha, with statues of the vivid scene of 8 monsters controlled by Four Emperors. The Grand Hall was established behind the Palace of Emperor, which is the center of the whole temple. The appearance of the Palace is of solemn and magnificent feature, alternated with distinctive arch, gorgeous paintings proudly carved on the beam, glittering. Sakyamuni Buddha is worshipped in the center of the palace, with the 18 disciples of Buddha standing by. Behind the palace worshipped Guanyin Bodhisattva Buddha, and further behind comes the Sutra Mansions which in huge possession of Buddhist Scriptures.

Old trees including Green pines and verdant cypresses tower in front of the palace, which perfectly matched with the red wall of the palace. Temple fares are set up in the 8th, 18th and 28th of April in the traditional Chinese calendar, which will appeal to thousands of tourists gather together here.
